Wendy Mandel McDaniel

To identify Wendy Mandel McDaniel as a found object, or mixed media artist puts her into a category that does not seem big enough for her work.  Indeed, she is repurposing objects and parts of objects from the detritus of modern life; however it is the repurposing that becomes so entrancing.  They are evocative of memories any of us could be harboring, of quiet introspection, hilarious parties, or religious moments. The impetus for these works may be specific for the artist but the idiosyncrasy of them is like a rabbit hole of visual experience for each viewer.

Her work has shown throughout the southeast.  Well known for her public art work, (you may have walked across her Map of Old Saint Augustine, mosaic design collaboration with Jan Tomlinson Master for the City of St. Augustine's Visitor Information Center, St. Augustine, FL, or seen her obelisk in gardens of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Joseph) Wendy is at heart a maker of objects imbued with personal experiences.  A graduate of Ithaca College, she is a self-taught artist.
