Martha Ferguson has roots in St. Augustine having received her BFA from Flagler College. The streets of St. Augustine, for her, are full of stories; as quoted on her website "Only a fool would walk the haunted streets of St Augustine in the early dawn and only a fool would miss their beauty." She cites as her biggest influence as Emmett Fritz. The late Mr. Fritz was an iconic figure in the St. Augustine art community during the mid-20th century, most known for his landscape paintings.
Martha's present day plein air works continue the tradition of drawing upon the cityscape of St. Augustine to find inspiration for her classically styled art. See Martha Ferguson Art.
