Larry Wilson’s medium is primarily clay utilizing hand building techniques. Often pieces incorporate metal, wood or found objects. He prefers working in series when addressing a sculptural theme allowing for a full exploration of ideas. He doesn’t move on to another series until the ideas for the next set of work begins to emerge. His imagery comes from a deeply personal impetus, reflecting on the roles he takes on in his life. However, as personal as his motivation may be, the work has a life of its own giving expression that is likely to feel personal to each viewer.
